Vegan, sugar free

When I was at the Bristol Vegan Festival last month (and more on that in the next post) I met the lovely people from GOOD Hemp Food. Their hemp seed tastes great, is grown in the South West of England and is very high in Omega 3 & 6.

I don’t think that we eat enough hemp seed and it really is very nutritious – as well as tasting nutty and really delicious. So here’s a smoothie recipe that I’ve created especially for the lovely people at GOOD. Let’s make the most of the weather whilst the sun is shining and let’s hope for some sunny days ahead.

Apricot and Hempseed Smoothie

This is a very refreshing drink for summer. The apricot and vanilla blend so well with the nuttiness of the hemp seed.

Ingredients
5 fresh or frozen apricots, pitted
1 frozen banana
The juice of 2 oranges
2 heaped tablespoons of GOOD shelled hemp seed
1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla paste

Method
Place all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. If you would like a runnier smoothie, add a little more water.

Pour into a large glass and its ready to drink.
