This is such a luxurious shake. It’s rich and totally delicious. The frozen banana adds substance to the shake and the almond milk adds a lovely creaminess.

NOTE: Freezing bananas is a great way of preserving fruit that is about to move over to the dark side. Peel them before freezing and store in airtight bags. You can then throw them into a shake or smoothie whenever the fancy takes you. They keep for about a month in the fridge before they lose their colour.

Banana, Cardamom and Date Shake

Yield: 1 serving
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1½ frozen bananas, cut into chunks
  • 1 Medjool date, stone removed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp ground cardamom
  • A pinch of salt
  1. In a blender, whizz all the ingredients until smooth and creamy.
